About inspection planning
An inspection programme only works if it is built on a proper understanding of the plant. That starts with an asset register: a central record of every item of equipment, its service and design conditions, its inspection and repair history and the date its next inspection falls due.
From that register we set inspection scopes, choose the appropriate methods and assign intervals that reflect the condition and duty of each item. We take account of the original design code, the relevant inspection standard and any statutory drivers such as PSSR written schemes of examination.
The result is a plan you can work to. It tells you what is due and when, so inspection is scheduled in good time rather than driven by shutdowns, surprises or enforcement.
